Poop Pudding aka Mämmi – Why Would You Eat That?
In honor of the upcoming Easter holiday, the Why Would You Eat That? crew explores the Finnish dessert pudding, mämmi. Along the way, we get a glimpse of Michael Truly's stand-up routine (we hope he's keeping his day job) and meet a very interesting Easter Bunny. Although it's a sweet dessert pudding, the ingredients are things you wouldn't normally expect to taste sweet, like rye flour and malted rye, but the addition of molasses and orange zest make it the fun seasonal treat the Finnish are proud to eat, whether on Easter or year-round. When it's served with milk, it looks a little bit less like, well, poop, and it turns out this unappetizing looking pudding is also pretty healthy. A healthy, sweet dessert? We're in!
Have you tried this Finnish treat? How was it served? If you were served this, what would you think it was?

On Why Would You Eat That? we scour the globe for the most bizarre foods and explain why anyone would be crazy enough to eat them. Very fascinating! Finnish traditional food! 😀 I grew up in Finland and
have to deal with Memma all these years – I still don’t like it. Not for my
taste.
I tried this in Finland, its not great but certainly not bad either,
taste-wise I mean. Most of the Finnish family I now have over there dont
even like it. I liked it due to not really liking desserts and its not
overly sweet, just like a malted taste with a slight sweetness. Its really
not too bad. Id eat it again anyway.
How the fuck is kymmpi hard to pronounce!? Also, I haven’t had mämmi for a
couple of years, dunno why, but ate some for the first time in ages again
and cant remeber why we didn’t just try to find a recipe online or some
place where it can be bought in England cos it’s actually delicious. Some
people just don’t understand good food, at least not here where I live.
I’m from Finland and i don’t like Mämmi… i’ve never like’d it. Too sweet
to me. It’s etable still. You should try it in Finland from actual ceramic
bowl with vanilla cream. And it looks like SHIT with cream.
jenkkipaskat. Hyi vittu mikä pepsodenthymy ja pillunnuolijaparta tolla
isommalla.

Is it weird that I always want to eat the things in these videos? These all
seem great. I wish I worked there.
It tastes like caramel, yes im finnish
It’s just brown pudding or something like that. Calling it literal shit is
just misleading.

I tried making some mammi. It certainly doesn’t look very appealing, but
it’s actually really good!
Wow, eating animals that are uncommon in your area can be strange but maybe
reasonable but eating this is just insane…

Mammi looks yummy, I’ll eat that :)
THEY ATE SHIT!!!
You do all this research on the entire history of the meal and everything
but you can’t bother learning how to pronounce anything.
