One is to protect our gut by not taking in too many toxins, removing alcohol from your diet, stress reduction, anti-inflammatory diets have been shown to decrease inflammation in general, thereby helping the permeability. There's also been some discussion about adding glutamine into your diet to help strengthen the intestine, and reduce its permeability.
