You mentioned that you suffer from bloating and this can be a very uncomfortable and often even sometimes painful thing. It can be caused by a few different things. First of all, if someone is swallowing a lot of water when they drink or if they are chronic belchers or something, this can cause a buildup of gas in their stomach and their intestines. It can also be caused by the foods we eat or if you’re lactose intolerant or something. You mentioned that you’re trying to eat a lot of high fiber foods because of constipation and you’re trying to lose weight so you’re eating well, and that’s really good but sometimes it does cause people to have more gas and bloating. Keep a food diary and see if you can pinpoint certain foods or beverages that make it feel worse and avoid those things if possible. If you notice that milk products cause it then maybe you’re lactose intolerant and try cutting dairy out of your diet and see if that makes a difference. Or you can choose to take an over-the-counter lactose digestive enzyme and that can help you with the gas and bloating if you’re truly lactose intolerant. There are also many over-the-counter aids to help with gas and you can go check out that area at your local pharmacy and try a few of those, especially those that contain simethicone and see if those make a difference. If all else fails talk with your doctor and they can decide if further investigation or treatment is warranted. Maybe after having a more specific conversation with you they can give you more recommendations that don’t involve extensive treatment. Good luck with it and if you have any other questions for me in the future feel free to ask them on our Facebook page at Facebook.com/IntermountainMoms and recommend us to your friends and family too.
